Arthur C. Anton, Sr. Honored for Philanthropy

Arthur C. Anton, Sr.

Arthur C. Anton, Sr., a Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, was honored at Celebrate Giving!, an event of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, at the Westford Inn & Conference Center in Westford, MA on September 18, 2014.

Anton was cited as an outstanding local business leader and philanthropist, with “a distinguished lifelong commitment to family, faith and community.” He was praised for his leadership as a former board member of the Lowell General Hospital, as past trustee of Boston University, his commitment to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell, the International Institute, and Goodwill Industries, among many other area nonprofits. His devotion to the Greek Orthodox Church and support of its mission was also cited.

George S. Tsandikos, Chairman of Leadership 100, in remarking on the honor, said that Anton was “a philanthropic pioneer and exemplary leader who was part of a small, dedicated group of dedicated Churchmen who had worked with Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory to create the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund, now one of the preeminent charitable membership organizations in the nation.”

Among Anton’s long list of accomplishments are his service to the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, Holy Trinity Church in Lowell and the Archdiocesan Council, the ruling body of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, as well as to various other prestigious national committees and organizations. He is also an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
