Leadership 100 To Convene In Florida

The 26th Annual Leadership 100 Conference will convene at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan, Florida from February 9-12, 2017.

The program speakers will feature Dr. Anthony S. Papadimitriou, President of the Onassis Foundation, which is a member of Leadership 100, and the pioneering investment manager, James S. Chanos, also a member.

In addition, the Emmy Award-winning actor, musician and author Jonathan Jackson will speak as well as perform with his brother, the actor and musician Richard Lee Jackson. The dynamic Director of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Youth & Young Adult Ministries, Steven Christoforou, will speak at the Opening Forum.

Executive Committee And Board Of Trustees Meet, Hold Membership Recruitment Dinner

The Leadership 100 Executive Committee and Board of Trustees met November 10 and 11, 2016 at the Harvard Club New York City and held a Membership Recruitment Dinner on the evening of November 10. Eight new members joined.

Both the Executive Committee and Board of Trustees addressed issues ranging from membership to grant distributions and the investment portfolio. In 2016, Leadership 100 has recruited 50 new members to date with total membership reaching 1,022, including 589 fulfilled members, according to George S. Tsandikos, Chairman, who presided at the meetings. His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America, offered paternal remarks and his vision for the future of the Church.

Leadership 100 Executive Committee Approves $250,000 Gift To Rebuild Devastated Ionian Village in Greece

The Leadership 100 Executive Committee, at a special meeting on December 20, 2016, unanimously approved a gift of $250,000 toward the rebuilding of the Ionian Village, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Summer Camp in Greece, which was devastated by a tornado formed in the Ionian Sea making landfall on September 8, 2016, according to George S. Tsandikos, Chairman.

Tsandikos stated: “The Ionian Village has been the centerpiece of the Archdiocese youth program and has introduced generations of Greek American Orthodox youth to their Faith and Heritage in a hospitable environment.”

Michael Psaros Honored By Chian Federation

Michael G. Psaros, a member of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees and co-Founder and co-Managing Partner of KPS Capital Partners, LP, was honored with the 37th Homeric Award by the Chian Federation at an Award Gala on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Chian Federation in Astoria, New York.

The Homeric Award, presented annually to distinguished individuals, advocates of human rights, democratic ideals and persons who have excelled in furthering human knowledge, is one of the most prestigious awards presented by the Greek American Community. Among its recipients were former U.S. President Jimmy Carter; Constantine Karamanlis, President of Greece; Archbishop Iakovos; Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Tip O’Neil, and Senators Paul Sarbanes, Edward Kennedy, Olympia Snowe and Bill Bradley.

Metropolis Of San Francisco Honors Gerry And Jeannie Ranglas - by Kristen Bruskas

The Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco honored the extraordinary leadership of Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas, longtime members of Leadership 100, and celebrated the Metropolis ministries at the 2016 Gala, Saturday, November 12, at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California. The Ranglas couple were honored with the Theofanis Economidis Award in recognition of their devoted stewardship and exemplary leadership on behalf of the Metropolis of San Francisco. His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco remarked: “This honor being bestowed upon you tonight does not signify the completion of your work, but rather it pays tribute to your faithful service and your ongoing devotion to the Church.”

Merkourios A. Angeliades, known as “Mike”, a prominent member of Leadership 100, was honored by Hellenic Public Radio-COSMOS FM 91.5 with The Phidippides Award at the 21st Annual Phidippides Award Gala Dinner on November 5, 2016 at Terrace on the Park in Flushing, New York. A native of Symi, Greece, who immigrated to the United States in 1960, Angeliades was acknowledged for his “passionate advocacy of Hellenism.”

AHI Founder Honored By Republic Of Cyprus For Exceptional Service

American Hellenic Institute (AHI) Founder Eugene T. Rossides, a member of Leadership 100, was honored with the Republic of Cyprus Presidential Exceptional Service Medal on November 10, 2016, at a ceremony in Washington, DC. Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the United States Leonidas Pantelides presented the medal to Rossides “as a token of our gratitude for a lifetime of dedication to Cyprus and its cause.” The medal requires the approval of Cyprus’s Council of Ministers.
