Dennis Mehiel Presented with Holy Trinity Award

Dennis Mehiel, a prominent New York business and civic leader and a long-time member of Leadership 100, was presented with the Holy Trinity Award at the 80th Archdiocesan Cathedral Gala at Guastavino’s on E. 59th St. in New York City on June 5, 2015. After an introduction by John Catsimatidis, member of the Executive Committee of Leadership 100, Mehiel was presented with the award by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, V. Rev.Fr. John Vlahos, Dean of the Cathedral, and Dean Poll, President of the Cathedral Board. Leadership 100 members Stella Pantelidis and Justin Bozonelis served as co-chairs.

Mehiel is the Principal Shareholder and Chairman of U.S. Corrugated, Inc., Managing Member of Four M Capital, LLC and former Chairman, CEO and Principal Shareholder of BOX USA, which he founded in 1966. He is also an investor and director of numerous other innovative technological enterprises. He was appointed Chairman and CEO of the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2012. BPCA operates a 92-acre property created when the World Trade Center was constructed 40 years ago. The site contains 10 million square feet of commercial space and residential properties with a population of 14,000, along with parks and other public spaces.

A renowned philanthropist and public advocate, he is a former member of the Milano School of Management and Urban Policy at the New School University, a member of Business Executives and a former trustee of Westchester Medical Center and has served on numerous boards of educational institutions and organizations in the Tri-State area. Long active in political life, he served for 12 years as a member of the Democratic National Committee.

A member of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Mehiel is a former member of the Archdiocesan Council, and a current member of Faith: An Endowment for Orthodoxy and Hellenism. An Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Order of Saint Andrew, he is a recipient of the Medal of St. Paul, the highest honor awarded to a layperson by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
