National Leadership 100 Sunday
National Leadership 100 Sunday was celebrated in Greek Orthodox parishes across the nation, according to Eliana Papadakis, a long-time and devoted member and community and philanthropic leader in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who was named Chair of the third observance by Constantine G. Caras, Chairman of Leadership 100.
His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Church of America issued an Encyclical on behalf of the Holy Eparchial Synod designating October 23, 2011, the Feast of Saint Iakovos, as National Leadership 100 Sunday. The date was chosen as a tribute to Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory, the visionary Founder and namesake of the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund.
Papadakis led members of the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees as Chairpersons in the Direct Archdiocesan District and all Metropolises. They worked with clergy in all parishes to develop programs in which members of Leadership 100 addressed the importance of continuing support of the critical National Ministries of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. She and her late husband, Dr. Constantine Papadakis, who was President of Drexel University, have been members of Leadership 100 since 2000. Their daughter, Maria, is a Leadership 100 Partner.
Celebrations took place across the country led by Leadership 100 Founder and former Chairman, Arthur C. Anton and Leadership 100 member Madeline Anton at Annunciation Cathedral in Boston and Board members George Safiol and Arthur Anton, Jr. and Leadership 100 member Chris Pappas at St. Demetrios Church in Weston, Massachusetts; Chris W. Caras, member of the Executive Committee with Chris W. Caras, Jr. and Dr. Nicholas Halikis, Leadership 100 members, at St. Katherine Church in Redondo Beach, California; Board member Peter Parthenis at St. Nectarios in Palatine, Illinois; and Board member Ted Zampetis and Leadership 100 member Ann Zampetis at St. Paul Church in North Royalton, Ohio.
