Pappas Presented with Three Hierarchs Award

Gregory C. Pappas, publisher of Greek America Magazine, founder of the Greek America Foundation and a member of Leadership 100 was presented with the annual Three Hierarchs Award for the Promotion of Hellenism in New York City on January 29th.

The award was presented by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of America and the Very Rev. Eugene Pappas, Protopresbyter of the Three Hierarchs Church in Brooklyn, New York.

The award, presented annually to an individual who has worked toward the promotion of Hellenism, is presented in conjunction with the commemoration of the feast day of the Three Hierarchs.

Previous recipients include His Excellency Ambassador Loukas Tsilas, Executive Director of the Onassis Foundation, Eugene Rossides, founder of the American Hellenic Institute in Washington DC and Antonis Diamataris, publisher of the National Herald.

The presentation of the award is made at the Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church and commemorates Saints Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom, grouped together in a single feast day on January 31st and commemorated throughout the world for their dedication to Greek education.

Pappas is the founder of a public relations and media consulting company called The Pappas Group. He has been publishing Greek America Magazine for over 15 years and has recently expanded the outreach of the non-profit organization he founded called the Greek America Foundation. In addition to the first-ever Gabby Awards, the foundation has hosted exhibitions, lectures, concerts and other events throughout the nation.
