Fourth of July

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, we pause to give thanks for the blessings of faith, freedom, and community that continue to shape our shared life in America. The Fourth of July is more than a commemoration of our nation's founding. It is an opportunity to reflect on the principles and values that have sustained our democracy for two and a half centuries.

This year, the United States of America will mark its 250th anniversary, a historic milestone that invites all Americans to consider the remarkable journey of our republic. The vision set forth by the Founding Fathers was deeply influenced by the ideals of ancient Greece, where concepts of citizenship, civic participation, and self-governance first emerged. While the American experiment has evolved and expanded over generations, it remains rooted in the enduring belief that free people, united by common purpose and responsibility, can govern themselves and build a more perfect union.

For members of Leadership 100 and the broader Greek Orthodox Christian community, these connections hold special meaning. Hellenic heritage has long contributed to the intellectual and democratic traditions that helped shape the United States, while our faith calls us to be active stewards of the communities in which we live and serve. As Americans and as Greek Orthodox Christians, we are reminded that freedom carries with it both privilege and responsibility - the responsibility to strengthen our institutions, care for our neighbors, and pass on these blessings to future generations.

As we gather with family and friends this Fourth of July, may we do so with gratitude for those who came before us, appreciation for the opportunities we enjoy today, and hope for the generations who will follow. Together, let us honor the enduring ideals of liberty, democracy, faith, and service that continue to unite us.

Leadership 100 extends its warmest wishes for a joyful, safe, and meaningful Independence Day celebration.
