National Leadership 100 Sunday To Be Observered For Ninth Year

National Leadership 100 Sunday was observed across the country for the ninth year on October 15, 2017. The celebration is held on a Sunday near to the Feast of Saint Iakovos in honor of the Founder of Leadership 100, Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory.

“National Leadership 100 Sunday demonstrated once again the indispensable support Leadership 100 provides for our Church and Community,” said George S. Tsandikos, Chairman of Leadership 100. Theodore K. Zampetis, a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the National Membership Committee served as National Leadership 100 Sunday Chairman for the sixth consecutive year.

Parish Priests throughout the nation read the Encyclical issued by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America on behalf of the Holy Eparchial Synod at the Divine Liturgy. Members of Leadership 100 held programs to develop awareness of the support provided by Leadership 100 for the Ministries of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and all the Metropolises.

Among those participating, Arthur C. Anton, a Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, addressed the parish of SS Constantine and Helen in Andover, Massachusetts, along with Fr. Christopher P. Makiej. The family hour was sponsored by Arthur and Madeline Anton in honor of National Leadership 100 Sunday. The couple have sponsored a program for all nine observances of National Leadership 100 Sunday.

Thomas G. Jordan, Treasurer of Leadership 100, addressed Assumption Church in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, as he has done in previous years. At the Church of Our Saviour in Rye, New York, George T. Soterakis, a member of Leadership 100 Board of Trustees addressed the parish, along with Fr. Elias Villas. At Assumption Church in Chicago, Leadership 100 members Louis Malevitis, Marion Gouvis and Constance Andrews sponsored a program supported by the Very Rev. Timothy G. Bakakos, Archimandrite and Rev. Fr. Dimitrios Burikas, Associate Pastor.

In California, Leadership 100 member Chris W. Caras, Jr. organized an observance with his sister, Rhea Caras Rendon, mother of Leadership 100 member Christopher Rendon, in keeping the family tradition of their father, Chris W. Caras of Blessed Memory, a distinguished member of the Leadership 100 Executive Committee. They were joined by Leadership 100 member George Mitsanas.
