Louis Apostol Appointed

Louis G. Apostol, a long-time member of Leadership 100 and formerly Commissioner to the Illinois Court of Claims, has been appointed Executive Director to the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board with offices in Chicago, Des Plaines and Springfield, Illinois. He will oversee and direct all residential, commercial, industrial and farmland property tax appeals in the State of Illinois.

Prior to his appointment as Commissioner to the Court of Claims, Apostol was Public Administrator of Cook County from 1991-2003. He also is a member of the Chicago Sister Cities International Program and is Chair of the Attorney’s Advisory Committee to Dorothy Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He is a partner in the law firm of Apostol, Kowal & Jordan, Ltd. He has been a successful practicing attorney in the State of Illinois with specialties in corporate, real estate, tax, banking, and government law.

A member of the Board of Visitors and Treasurer of the Alumni Council for Northern Illinois University, College of Law, he also serves on the Board of Directors for the Hellenic Bar Association. In 1998, he received the “Distinguished Service Award” from the College of Law and in 1997, the “Hellene of the Year Award” from the Hellenic Bar Association in Chicago. In 2003, he received the prestigious "Community Service Award" from the Association Forum and ASAE in Chicago and Washington, DC.

Apostol was formerly the Chair, Vice Chair and Legislative Liaison for the Chicago Bar Association’s Trade and Professional Associations Law Committee. He is on the Board of Directors of the United Hellenic American Congress, UHAC Publications and President of the Hellenic Foundation in Chicago and Washington, DC. He serves on many other corporate boards in Illinois. He has been a speaker and moderator in numerous legal symposia for various schools, bar associations and other professional organizations. He has appeared on the "Best Lawyers in America", American Airlines Skyradio Program for Forbes Magazine.
