Dr. John Collis Honored for Lifetime Achievement

Dr. John Collis, of Cleveland, Ohio, a distinguished longtime member of Leadership 100, was honored for Lifetime Achievement in spinal surgery at an event on May 4, 2017 organized by the Spine and Orthopedic Institute at St. Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland, where he serves as a neurosurgeon and co-Director. Some 100 colleagues, relatives and friends attended.

For the past 61 years. Dr. Collis has cared for 400,000 patients and has performed 17,000 spinal surgeries. He is considered the pioneering founder of spinal neurosurgery. His special interest has been disorders and injuries of the cervical and lumbar spine. He has helped invent many devices and surgical instruments.

Many of the testimonials credited Dr. Collis with innovative techniques in spinal surgery, as well as being a caring person who put the interests of his patients foremost.

Previously in his career, Dr. Collis served as an associate professor at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, Director of Spinal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic and Director of Neurosurgery at St. Vincent and Lutheran Hospital.
