Anton Honored for Philanthropy

Arthur C. Anton Sr., a Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Leadership 100, was honored at the Hearts Warmed Gala at UMASS Lowell Inn and Conference Center on June 10, 2013, in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Anton’s Cleaners and its charitable work through Caring Partners, Inc.

Anton was cited for his legacy of philanthropy throughout decades of service to his business and community, his Church and the nation. Guiding Anton’s Cleaners, with his beloved brothers Socrates and Alexander, into becoming a veritable New England Institution, the business focused its charitable work through Caring Partners, Inc. on behalf of needy girls and children through the hallmark programs of “Belle of the Ball” and “Coats for Kids”, which surely puts them in a league of their own.

Charles H. Cotros, Chairman, and Paulette Poulos, Executive Director, sent congratulations on behalf of the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Endowment Fund, Inc, noting his many years of caring commitments beginning with his devotion to Archbishop Iakovos of Blessed Memory and to the Church at large. Anton and a small group of dedicated Church leaders were the Founders of Leadership 100 in 1984.

“We join you in spirit and embrace in love and appreciation this great servant of our Church and Community who has served us so nobly as both a Founder and an illustrious Chairman over our critical years of our growth guiding and urging his colleagues to strive always for higher and better results in meeting humanitarian needs at home and abroad. Arthur, together with his beloved wife, Madeline, as well as his sons, Charles, Arthur Jr, his daughters, Diane and Susan, and their spouses, have provided a living testimony of a family dedicated to the Faith and values we all share,” they wrote.

Among Anton’s long list of accomplishments are his service to the Annunciation Cathedral in Boston, Holy Trinity Church in Lowell and the Archdiocesan Council, the ruling body of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, as well as to various other prestigious national committees and organizations. He is also an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
