National Hellenic Society Honors Angelo and Sophia Tsakopoulos and Dr. George Korkos
The National Hellenic Society (NHS) honored longtime Leadership 100 members Angelo and Sophia Tsakopoulos and Dr. George Korkos, a co-founder of the NHS, at its 10th Annual Heritage Weekend and Classic Conference, October 10 to 13, in Santa Monica, California. The Tsakopoulos couple and Dr. Korkos were honored for their efforts in promoting Hellenism at the NHS awards gala.
Besides honoring important members of the Greek American community, NHS members also celebrated the NHS Heritage Greece program, which has sent more than five hundred Greek American students to Greece.
NHS Chairman Drake Behrakis, President of Marwick Associates, noted “The National Hellenic Society was proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary in Santa Monica, California with over 350 attendees, including 85 student alumni of our programs. A special delegation of 10 students also participated and reflected on our contributions to the Community and the Diaspora and our growing relations with Greece.”
Also, present, representing Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Greeks Abroad Antonis Diamataris, who read a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister.
The National Hellenic Society was established by prominent businessman and philanthropist George M. Marcus who is today Chairman Emeritus. Marcus, who served for many years on the Leadership 100 Executive Committee and Board of Trustees, is Chairman of Marcus & Millichap and of Essex Property Trust.
