Next Generation Spotlight: Young Professionals Program

By: Eleni Kokolakis, Chairperson of the L100 Young Professionals Program

As the organization enters a new chapter under Chairman Michael Bapis and Executive Director Father Panagiotis, the focus on engaging young professionals is both timely and essential. For the Greek Orthodox community, these individuals are not simply participants, they are stewards of the future, responsible for carrying forward the values of Orthodoxy and Hellenism while navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.

Recognizing this, Leadership 100 has made a deliberate investment in building a space where young professionals can connect, grow, and lead with purpose.

Building Community and Connection

The Leadership 100 Young Professionals Program was created to address a critical need: providing a platform for young professionals to build meaningful relationships within the Greek Orthodox community.

Designed for individuals ages 21–45 across the country, the program brings together emerging Hellenic and Orthodox professionals who are eager to deepen their connection to faith, culture, and community. It offers a unique environment that not only fosters peer-to-peer engagement, but also creates opportunities to interact with established leaders from across the broader Leadership 100 network.

Through networking events, mentorship opportunities, and community gatherings, participants are able to build lasting personal and professional relationships - strengthening both their individual journeys and the collective future of the community.

A New Generation of Leadership

Each generation of Greek-Americans plays a critical role in safeguarding and advancing the traditions and values that define the community. By investing in young leaders today, Leadership 100 is building a strong and sustainable foundation for the future of Hellenism.

For me, this work is deeply personal.

Having experienced firsthand the impact of mentorship, connection, and inspiration within the organization, I saw an opportunity to create the same sense of belonging for younger generations. Our vision is to continue expanding programming throughout the year and across the country, while also introducing more structured mentorship and engagement opportunities.

At its core, the program reflects what young professionals need most right now: opportunities to learn from experienced leaders, build authentic community, and stay meaningfully engaged.

Designed for a Changing World

Today’s generation of young professionals has adapted to constant change, evolving environments, and new ways of connecting. The Young Professionals Program is intentionally designed to meet them where they are - offering approachable, flexible ways to engage, whether through events, conversations, or mentorship.

This focus on accessibility and relevance has already begun to resonate.

Since launching the Young Professionals Program in May 2025, the program has generated strong interest from participants who are eager to stay involved year-round, and not just during the annual conference. That sustained engagement is a key indicator that the program is meeting a real and growing need within the community.

Early Impact and Momentum

The early results speak to the program’s potential.

Following the initial launch, several young professionals formally joined Leadership 100, while others have remained actively engaged, including attending events, introducing peers to the organization, and contributing within their local communities.

This ripple effect is exactly what the program was designed to achieve: not only building connections, but also inspiring deeper participation and long-term commitment.

Looking Ahead: A Collective Effort

As the program continues to grow, its success will depend on the broader Leadership 100 community.

Members and supporters are encouraged to play an active role whether by mentoring, fostering connections, engaging with participants, or creating new opportunities for involvement. These collective efforts will help ensure that young professionals feel supported, valued, and empowered to lead.

For young professionals themselves, there are many ways to get involved. Attending upcoming events, connecting with members of the Young Professionals Committee, and exploring opportunities to participate are all meaningful first steps toward becoming part of this growing network.

By investing in young professionals today, Leadership 100 is not only strengthening its present - it is shaping the future of the Greek Orthodox community for generations to come.
