A Legacy of Faith, Service and Generosity
For Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas, philanthropy is more than giving. It is an expression of faith, a responsibility to strengthen the Church, preserve Hellenic heritage, and ensure that future generations have the opportunity to experience the Orthodox faith and culture that have shaped their lives.
Lifelong Orthodox Christians and founding members of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, Gerry and Jeannie have devoted decades to serving the Church at the parish, Metropolis, Archdiocese and Ecumenical Patriarchate levels. Today, their impact can be seen across some of the most important institutions and ministries of the Greek Orthodox community in America.
Gerry serves on the Leadership 100 Board of Trustees and is an Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. A successful business leader and principal owner of R&V Management, he has consistently paired his professional success with a deep commitment to Orthodox philanthropy. Jeannie has devoted much of her life to hands-on service, serving for more than two decades on the National Philoptochos Board and for many years as President of the Metropolis of San Francisco Philoptochos.
Their generosity has reached well beyond their local parish. Gerry and Jeannie are founding members of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation, benefactors of the Metropolis of San Francisco, members of Leadership 100, and major supporters of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine. As Dominion Donors to Saint Nicholas - those contributing between $1 million and $2 million - they have helped advance what they describe as a “beacon of faith, hope, and love” for Orthodox Christians in America.
Their commitment to education is equally significant. The couple are lead donors of the Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas Ancient Greek History Chair at the University of California, San Diego, helping ensure that the study and understanding of ancient Greek history remains part of the academic landscape for generations to come.
Perhaps nowhere is their commitment to the future of the Church more evident than in their support of Hellenic College Holy Cross. In May 2026, Jeannie received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Hellenic College Holy Cross in recognition of her extraordinary record of philanthropy, servant leadership and dedication to the Church. Her work has included championing the Bishop Anthony Philoptochos Student Aid Endowment Fund, which has provided more than $4 million in financial assistance to seminarians and students over four decades.
The recognition was especially fitting because Jeannie's journey of service began at a young age. At 22, she joined the first Philoptochos board at Saints Constantine and Helen and went on to serve as chapter president, Parish Council President, Greek Festival Chair and President of Cardiff Orthodox Housing, a foundation serving low-income seniors. Her leadership demonstrates that philanthropy is not only about financial resources - it is also about giving one's time, talents and heart.
Together, Gerry and Jeannie have built a legacy grounded in a simple but powerful belief: what we are blessed with is meant to be shared. Their philanthropy reaches across generations, from seminarians preparing to serve the Church, to students studying Greek history, to families and communities supported through Philoptochos ministries, to the preservation of Orthodox faith and identity in America.
As Leadership 100 celebrates Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas as our August Member Philanthropists of the Month, we celebrate not simply what they have given, but the example they have set. Their lives remind us that true stewardship is a lifelong commitment to God, to family, to community and to the generations yet to come.
