President of L.M. Kohn & Company and Retired U.S. Army Officer to speak Thursday morning at 32nd Annual Leadership 100 Conference

Carl Hollister

Carl Hollister was born near Cleveland, in the city of Willoughby, Ohio. He is the son of Demetria G. (Space) Hollister and Robert E. Hollister, and the eldest of three brothers: George and Christopher.

 In high school, Hollister was the football team captain and played baseball. He went on to play college football for the Grove City College Wolverines, Grove City, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a B.A. in Economics. He met his wife, Cynthia D. Pappas, at Grove City. He went on to earn an M.A. in Finance at Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri,

 Hollister is a retired U.S. Army Officer with the rank of Major in the Army Reserves, with 21 years active and reserve total service. Seventeen of those years were in Special Operations, with tours of duty in Central America, Balkans, and Central Asia. He trained at the US Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School in Foreign Internal Defense and Unconventional Warfare (FID UW) where he specialized in Psychological Operations and Civil Military Operations. As commander of the Khost Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan, he was awarded the Bronze Star in 2005.  He received noteworthy accolades in the Book “Counterinsurgency in Eastern Afghanistan 2004-2008” written by Robert Kemp of the U.S. State Department.

 With over 20 years of experience in the securities industry, Hollister currently serves as President and member of the board of directors for L.M. Kohn & Company, a regional S.E.C. Registered Investment Advisor and Broker/Dealer, serving the mass affluent market, small corporate, and non-profit client marketplace. The firm operates 60 branches and oversees $4 billion in client assets under management. L.M. Kohn & Company is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hollister is a dedicated member of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Order of AHEPA. He serves on the Archdiocesan Council and is an AHEPA Past Supreme President (2017-18) and currently serves on its board of directors.  He also served as Chairman and CEO for the AHEPA National Housing Corporation (2019-2022), a nonprofit company with a portfolio of over 90 affordable independent and assisted senior living communities nationwide.

 An Archon Referendarios, Hollister currently serves on the National Council for The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle and as member of the of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation (EPBF) where he serves as the Audit Committee Chairman. He is also a member of the board for the St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine.

As a member of Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown, Ohio, Carl served as a Parish Council President. He also has served as an advisor to the Metropolis of Detroit. Hollister serves on many other boards and advisory councils, including the Cleisthenes Project and the RBC Wealth Management Advisory Board.

 He and his wife, Cynthia (Pappas), live in Mason, Ohio, and have a daughter, Alexandra.
